BlackMen Digital Interview: Danika Joy

Sunday 20th, March 2011

BM: Why do you think you should be a BlackMenMagazine Model?

DJ: I have the ever so lusted after curves, known to keep Black Men's readers' attention. I also represent a unique woman, whom I feel young girls are aspiring to be now, more than ever; strong, independent, and confident.  Women today are forced to play Superwoman, and I embrace that role with grace. I am damn proud of my curves and sex appeal, yet I am extremely educated and have business savvy.

BM: Did you market yourself to fans on www.

DJ: Absolutely.

BM: Were you always this amazingly curvy?

DJ: Yes, I remember when I was younger and began to develop before all the other girls...I actually was ashamed of my curves.  It's funny to me now, because I have never felt more beautiful.

BM: What disadvantages do you feel you have as an urban model?

DJ: I think being characterised in this industry is hella easy, so I try to stay away from certain roles and gigs that will only promote me to one market,

BM: Do you think that having size 40 or more hips inhibits most models?

DJ: Not anymore! I think the media is finally shining some light on the beauty of a natural figure; a woman with nice hips and an ass.

BM: Do you have a commercial head shot?

DJ: Yes.

BM: Do you understand that without these things on your resume that you career, if any, might be short?

DJ: Yes, of course.

BM: Favorite drink?

DJ: Pinot Noir or Belvedeer Madras.

BM: Favorite food?

DJ: Italian.

BM: Mood Music?

DJ: System of a Down or Metallica if im going out; something slow to grind to.

BM: Favorite Vacation Spot?

DJ: Ft. Lauderdale Beach.

BM: Favorite place to be kissed?

DJ: Neck.

BM: Favorite body part on your man?

DJ: Shoulders, covered in tattoos.

BM: Favorite place to kiss him?

DJ: Everywhere...neck, back, lips, pelvic bone...If I am in love, you are my king.

BM: How often do you measure yourself?

DJ: Every few months.

BM: Are you proud of your curves?

DJ: Hell yeah!

BM: What curvaceous celebrity do you identify as role model for success?

DJ: Ok, dont judge me...besides the instant success from the sex tape, Kim K is quite the entrepreneur.

BM: Have you invested money into your career?

DJ: Yes.

BM: Do you or would you work a 9 to 5 until your career took off?

DJ: I have always been a hustler and a business woman...not much of a 9-5er.

BM: If you had an agent, would you refer all assignments to them as in your agreement, or do you feel you should take some work without informing them?

DJ: If I had an agreement, I would absolutely abide by it.

BM: How do you feel about magazines like Elle and Vogue, do you think they should feature more curvaceous women?

DJ: Honestly, given the readers and market for high fashion, they select their models appropriately.  However, it is unfair for young women to be brainwashed with the idea that their curves are not sexy.

BM: How do you plan to change the game?

DJ: I am changing the game one shoot at a time by being wicked sexy and having a bad ass attitude.  I can not identify with the girl next door whatsoever, and I embrace my unique beauty!  I think men like the edgyness I bring to the table, all while still being a sex of both worlds.
